WHO ALSO DOES ED SHEERAN, ASTON MERRYGOLD, RIZZLE KICKS, AND EVERY OTHER CELEB YOU CAN THINK OF.
All kinds of excitement rumbled through our jungles yesterday evening, when we saw Harry Styles had been getting some new ink.
His man behind the needle, Kevin Paul, kindly took some time out from tattooing celebrities to answer all our frenzied questions about Harry’s new bodyart; which pretty much went “WHATISITWHEREISITWHYYYY?!”
“I did a couple of bits on him last night,” Kevin told us.
“They’re really personal to him – the reasons he had them done and stuff, so he doesn’t really want to announce what they are. I’m doing him a half sleeve which he doesn’t mind people knowing about.
“We’re doing that now, so over the next week or two I’m gonna draw that up, send him the pictures over and then I’ll go back down and start it up. One was something from his childhood, and another one was something really important in his life.
“There’s nothing on his collarbone, it’s at the top of the arm to begin the sleeve. I tattooed Ed Sheeran as well – who did a little locket on Harry’s hand, like a little padlock thing.
“They didn’t really have to stop because of the pain, it was all pretty small things really so didn’t take too long.”
So has Harry sent any other members of One Direction Kevin’s way to get inked?
“Zayn phoned me the other day and asked about a tattoo,” Kevin revealed.
“But like, Rizzle Kicks gave Ed Sheeran my number about eight months ago and said ‘Ed’s gonna phone you next week, he wants to get a tattoo’, and I heard from him five weeks ago, so it’s hard to say when Zayn might want something done.”
But what if Zayn comes to him and wants a picture of a tub of his favourite hair gel or something else crap? Kevin Paul assures us he wouldn’t let The Malik get anything dodge slapped on his bod.
“I [try to guide] everyone,” Kevin admitted when we asked him what would happen if Zayn showed up with a PANTS idea.
“People in the music world, they’re really busy, they’re passionate about music and their whole life revolves around music. That’s all they know. Then when they get the idea to have a tattoo they just end up going to the nearest tattoo shop when they’re on tour and have half a day free, just to get it on.
“All the tattooist wants is their money, so they’ll just slap it on and it’s done, and they might end up with something crap.”
“I’ve got a lot of morals about what I do, and a reputation. If I do something crap on something it looks crap for me. So I’d try and help them and guide them away. I think everyone should have a tattoo that’s personal to them, not ‘phase’ tattoos.
“I’m professional whoever they are, whether it’s some 18 year old girl or Ed Sheeran and Harry Styles. The only difference is when I tattoo Harry my Twitter goes up loads!
“I think two more sessions on Harry and his half sleeve should be done – with people like this it’s hard to get in the same place at the same time.
“He didn’t really know that much about tattoos to a great extent to start with. He’s had a look through my portfolio and I’ve guided him through a lot of stuff, so this realistic is gonna be the first proper tattoo that he has.”
